CUET 2027 exam pattern
CUET (UG) is a computer-based test used by participating universities for undergraduate admissions. Your required combination of domain subjects, language papers and the General Aptitude Test depends on the official eligibility rules for each target programme.
The latest published NTA pattern gives each test paper 50 compulsory questions and 60 minutes. Speed still matters, but the 2027 information bulletin will be the final authority when it is released.

The marking scheme changes everything
CUET uses +5 for a correct answer, −1 for a wrong answer, and 0 for an unattempted question. The maximum score per subject is 250 marks. That negative marking is the single most important thing to internalise:
- A blind guess on a 4-option question has negative expected value — over a full paper, random guessing loses you marks.
- Once you can eliminate even two options, attempting becomes worth it.
- Knowing when to skip is a skill you build through timed mock practice, not by reading about it.
The student who manages negative marking well can beat an equally-prepared rival by 15–20 marks.

On a full 50-question paper, this pace is about 0/250. Knowing when to skip vs. attempt is a real, trainable skill.

A preparation strategy that works
Consistency beats intensity. Here is the rhythm that takes aspirants from anxious to admitted:
- Mon–Fri: 20 adaptive questions a day, aimed at your weak topics.
- Saturday: one full timed mock with real marking.
- Sunday: review your wrong answers in a spaced-repetition deck.
- Every week: check your score range, projection confidence, and weak topics, then adjust.
The mindset shift that matters most: stop studying blind. Track readiness by subject and use full mocks to see whether your score range is improving. That is exactly what CUET Path is built to support.

Under the latest published pattern, each correct answer earns +5 marks, each wrong answer loses 1 mark, and unattempted questions score 0. The maximum per paper is 250 marks.
How many subjects can I take in CUET?+
Most universities allow a combination of domain subjects plus the General Test and a language. Check your target college's specific requirement.
Is there negative marking in CUET?+
Yes. Every wrong answer carries a −1 penalty, so a blind-guessing strategy hurts your score. Calculated attempts after eliminating options are the way to go.
